A popular tradition for the last twelve years, the Highlanders Festival is a day long celebration of the region's Scots-Irish heritage. It is held every year on the second Saturday in October on Radford University's campus. Delight in the heavyweight Scottish athletics, including the 22lb. hammer, 16" sheaf toss, and stone "clachneart." Highland dancing, Celtic and Appalachian music, genealogical sites, Clan gathering, pipe bands, and vendors make the day complete.
